Bath Science Café Valentine’s Day special: The Future of Chocolate

2011年2月14日

The Bath Science Café will be saying it with chocolate on Monday 14 February at a special Valentine’s Day event.

The session will be presented by Philippe Wall, Master Chocolatier at Minerva Chocolate in Bath.

Mr Wall will illustrate the history of the chocolate industry in the UK, the world’s largest cocoa dealer until World War II.

The impact of global climate change on the cocoa production will also be addressed, with a focus on the mechanisms involved in regulating modern-day chocolate production and how these can be improved.

Philippe has a particular interest in the cocoa production of west African countries, and has established ‘The Chocolate Bond’, registered charity set up to manage and promote practical development links with chocolate producing communities within the area.

Having returned from Ghana just days ago, Mr Wall will share insights from his trip and says that he has brought back pure Ghanan chocolate which he will distribute at the Science Café meeting for all attendees to try!
