Dr Jo Dahn

During the eighteenth century, many women took to natural history as recreation; however Katherine Plymley's diaries and notebooks show that she regarded her studies in entomology as serious research. Her entomological paintings often incorporate beautifully observed botanical subjects, and she was advised by some leading scientists of her day, including Joseph Babington (1768-1826) whose son would become the celebrated botanist, Charles Cardale Babington (1808-1895).
