Launch of new Internal Peer Review College

2011年5月17日

Jane Millar, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research, has hosted a reception to launch our new Internal Peer Review College

The aim of the College is to provide a collective resource for sharing knowledge and good practice in respect of applications for external research funding, and a forum for discussion of research issues more generally. There are currently around 100 members from across the University.

In her welcome address, Jane thanked everyone for coming, for their work as external reviewers, and for joining the College.

She said: “We need more opportunities to talk to each other about research and to share our knowledge and experience, including across disciplines. The College is something new and how it works will depend on us all making it a success”.

The University is also adopting a more structured approach to the internal peer review of grant proposals, building on existing good practice across the University.

The new system will start from Monday 1 August 2011. Jane said: “The internal peer review system goes wider than the members of the College, as it will potentially involve all members of the academic community. It will complement our existing systems of support and mentoring and I hope we can create a supportive system of mutual benefit.”
