Top ten ranking for Bath in the Complete University Guide 2013

2012年4月24日

Bath’s high student satisfaction levels and excellent graduate employment prospects have been highlighted as key strengths in the 2013 Complete University Guide.

The Guide’s new league table ranks the University tenth out of 116 universities across the UK.

The table is generated by combining scores for nine specific quality factors used to assess a university’s overall performance.

Bath’s strong showing in these quality performance indicators helped to cement its place in the top ten nationally.

The University is ranked equal third for student satisfaction; equal sixth in the UK for completion rates; eighth for graduate prospects; and ninth in the UK for the percentage of our graduates achieving a first or upper second class honours degree.

Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath, said: “Once again we have performed extremely well in this independent league table.

“It is particularly pleasing to see some of the University’s key strengths highlighted with top ten places for ‘student satisfaction’, ‘graduate prospects’ and ’student completion’ aspects of the league table.

“Our graduate employment rates are among the best in the UK thanks in large part to the high quality professional placement opportunities we are able to offer our students. Our score this year of 79.1% is well above the national average of 63.7% reflecting the advantage our graduates have on others.

“Our performance in this table recognises the hard work by staff at Bath to provide our students with a great all round experience while they are here and the best chance of success in future life.

“Our graduates are well-rounded, engaged individuals with excellent knowledge and skills – a view that is clearly shared by employers.”

The Complete University Guide can be sorted on the following nine measures:

  • Student satisfaction
  • Research assessment
  • Entry standards
  • Staff student ratio
  • Spending on academic services
  • Facilities spending
  • Good honours
  • Graduate prospects
  • Completion rates

Individual subject rankings have also been published in the guide. The subject rankings have been created using the following four measures: student satisfaction; research assessment; entry standards; graduate prospects.

The University appears in the top ten in no less than 20 out of the 26 subjects offered at Bath, with Architecture topping its table as the number one place to study the subject in the UK.
